Public Works

Public Works is a London based collective engaged in critical art and design within the city. Public Works’ projects are interested in what constitutes civic in the city and how to re-design structures, spaces and systems that restrict equality in cities. The collective engages with numerous cultural, social and political disciplines to re-work the city’s opportunities towards citizen driven development. These are designed to promote collaboration between citizens and the public sector as well as other third sector organisations. The work produced deals with an urgency in climate and the social inequality present in urban areas today. The collective address these issues with residents through tangible projects in neighbourhoods at multiple locations. This multiplicity of sites enables scaling up towards larger socio-ecological impacts over time.
